Maintaining a Scholarship


During the first year of study, a student is required to maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average in a minimum12 credit hours with no failures. Thereafter, students should maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average in a minimum of 15 credit hours.  Original copies of grades are to be submitted by hand to the Education Council Office upon the students return at the end of each semester.  In the case of overseas scholarships, tuition, book and rent receipts are also required at the end of each semester.  
Students whose scholarships have been withdrawn must apply to the Education Council for re-admission to the scholarship programme when they are able to meet the requirements.










 

Disbursement of Funds

Overseas Scholarships
Funds are disbursed twice a year through the Cayman Islands Development Bank. Students are asked to, firstly, submit the required documentation to the Education Council Secretariat so that the funds may be released. Cheques will only be made payable to the scholarship recipient. If for any reason the recipient is unable to collect his/her cheque, he/she must give written authorization for a family member or close friend to collect the cheque and proper ID is required.
Local Scholarship Disbursement
Funds for the local scholarship recipient will be deposited directly to the institution. Students from Cayman Brac should collect their funds for maintenance from the Cayman Islands Development Bank.
Summer Funds Disbursement- Overseas Students
Students are allowed funds of up to CI$4,000.00 for summer school. The deadline for application each year is March 31. A student must present an official letter from the school stating that it is compulsory for him/her to attend in order for the Council to approve such requests. Official proof of cost and courses to be taken should also be submitted to the Council.
